Exploring New Zealand’s Backroads in Style: A Porsche Adventure
There’s something exhilarating about embarking on a journey along winding backroads, where every turn unveils a new vista and promises adventure.
Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a visit from the esteemed publisher of Curves Magazine, Stefan Bogner, and his talented photography crew—Fraenk, Matius, and David—from Stuttgart. Their mission? To uncover the hidden treasures of New Zealand’s backroads, accessible by car, motorbike, and bicycle, but with a luxurious twist: they arrived in style, behind the wheel of the latest Porsche 911 T and the newest 4×4 Porsche wagon.
As they pulled up to our doorstep, the sleek lines of the Porsches were juxtaposed against the rugged beauty of the New Zealand landscape, signalling an unforgettable journey. The dust kicked up by the road seemed inconsequential as it led them to the lap of luxury—comfortable beds, sumptuous breakfast spreads, and panoramic views that took their breath away.
Nestled just 10 minutes from the nearby highway, Paramata Lodge feels like it’s in a world of its own, thanks to the protected wetland and natural setting. While it’s easily accessible, the lodge exudes a sense of seclusion and tranquility, making guests feel like they’ve stumbled upon a hidden oasis off the beaten track.
Throughout their stay, we had the pleasure of sharing stories and insights into the rich tapestry of New Zealand’s backroads and hearing about their travel plans.
David remarked how easy it was to feel comfortable at Paramata Lodge. Just by looking at the artwork, curated music collection and library, he felt a sense of connection and shared understanding with the hosts. “I appreciate the style of the lodge,” he said, “It shows who you are.” This sentiment was shared by the entire crew.
During breakfast, as Kathy brewed a fresh Short Black to order, Neil surprised the group by producing a vintage Porsche emblem. This sparked an animated discussion about its history and significance and the Vintage Porsche it once belonged to.
More than just a journey of exploration, their visit was a testament to the spirit of camaraderie and shared passion for discovery. As they bid us farewell, we couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sadness, knowing that their next adventure awaited just around the corner. Yet, with eager anticipation, we await the release of Curves Magazine’s edition, where we’ll undoubtedly find a glimpse of our own slice of paradise immortalised in print.
In the end, their visit reminded us that the true essence of travel lies not just in the destinations we reach, but in the journey itself—the winding roads, the unexpected detours, and the moments shared along the way.
