Luxury West Coast Accommodation

All three guestrooms are positioned for sun and mountain to sea views with spacious ensuites and naturally blended décor. Sink into the deep ensuite bath designed for stargazing at the Southern Hemisphere sky or watch the Pukeko feed their young from your bedroom window.
In the morning, whether it's mist sneaking around the hills or massive breakers exploding onto the beach, the guestroom views are like personalised shows. You'll want to linger and watch but fresh coffee and baked bread aromas drift from the kitchen.
Complimentary one hour guided tours introduce the special features of the environment. Longer day tours are available for more in-depth interpretation of the wildlife and local history. Two to three nights are recommended to fully enjoy the wilderness and nearby attractions.

Wilderness Lodge Facilities

Paramata Lodge rests carefully upon the land, providing a luxuriously comfortable place from which to watch nature and explore a South Westland wilderness.
Recycled timbers and metal have been intricately worked into the decor of the lodge leading to fascinating stories of origin.
Choose from three lounges and two decks to relax, select music in the main lounge or delve into the upstairs library overlooking the forest for books on New Zealand botany and history, art, mountaineering and literature.
All around are New Zealand paintings, sculptures and world textiles reflecting Kathy's heritage and travels, and Neil's skilful eye and humour.
If keeping in touch with the busier world is necessary or to send your photos home right away there is wireless internet, Skype and mobile phone in the guest study.
Fresh Home-Cooked Cuisine

The centralised kitchen forms a hub with the dining, sitting and lounge rooms opening out onto decks. Kathy selects from the garden to create fresh tasty cuisine that is complemented by preserved wild and home-grown fruits and condiments.
Influenced from traditional Central Europe with the addition of Asian flavours and fresh Pacific ingredients, Kathy revives old family recipes with new twists.
Neil and Kathy have established gardens, a tunnel-house and chickens to produce a range of fresh vegetables, fruits and eggs and the house cow supplies milk and cream most of the year.
Local ingredients include forest honey, raspberries and feijoas in season, fresh fish, watercress and herbs all add to the flavour at Paramata.
