What's New - Birding in Spring!

A pair of weka had two chicks right by the lodge in early September and can be seen from the lounge most afternoons feeding their young.

Also many little blue penguin footprints have been seen on the beach near by indicating a busy nesting site there this season.

Many other indigenous birds are active around the lodge including pukeko, bellbird, tui, pigeon and rare fernbirds while a variety of ducks, cormorants, and heron can be seen along the wetland and coastline. Spring is a great time for birding!
